Medicine storage guidelines: keeping medicines safe and effective
Correct storage protects the safety and effectiveness of medicines. Even a well-manufactured medicine can lose potency or become unsafe if stored incorrectly.

Read the label
Always follow the storage conditions printed on the pack — for example 'Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture' or 'Store between 2°C and 8°C'.
Temperature
Most oral medicines are stored at controlled room temperature (below 25–30°C). Some products, including many vaccines and biologics, require refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Never freeze unless the label specifies it.
Humidity and light
Keep medicines in their original packaging to protect them from moisture and light. Avoid storing medicines in bathrooms where humidity is high.
Expiry and disposal
Do not use medicines beyond their expiry date. Dispose of expired or unwanted medicines through recommended channels — never flush them or discard them casually.
